Monocyte-chemotactic protein 3 (MCP3)or Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 7 (CCL7)is a small chemotactic cytokineknown as a chemokine. This ~9kDa chemotactic glycoprotein contains two adjacent N-terminal cysteine residues in its mature form, therefore classifying it as part of the CC subfamily of chemokines. It’s produced by macrophages and certain tumor cells. CCL7is seen to attract monocytes and eosinophils, but not neutrophilsand augments monocyte anti-tumor activity. It also induces release of gelatinase Band binds heparin as well as the chemokine receptors CCR1, CCR2 and CCR3.
