Guinea pig Bone Morphogenetic Protein 7 ELISA Kit
Principle of the Assay: BMP7 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing an anti-BMP7 antibody and an BMP7-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with BMP7-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the BMP7 concentration since BMP7 from samples and BMP7-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-BMP7 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by BMP7 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind BMP7-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The BMP7 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are a family of secreted signaling molecules that can induce ectopic bone growth. Many BMPs are part of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFB) superfamily. BMPs were originally identified by an ability of demineralized bone extract to induce endochondral osteogenesis in vivo in an extraskeletal site. Based on its expression early in embryogenesis, the BMP encoded by this gene has a proposed role in early development and possible bone inductive activity. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
BMP7: Induces cartilage and bone formation. May be the osteoinductive factor responsible for the phenomenon of epithelial osteogenesis. Plays a role in calcium regulation and bone homeostasis. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Interacts with SOSTDC1. Interacts with TWSG1. Expressed in the kidney and bladder. Lower levels seen in the brain. Belongs to the TGF-beta family.

Product Notes
The Guinea Pig BMP7 bmp7 (Catalog #AAA720855) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA720855 ELISA Kit recognizes Guinea Pig BMP7. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bone Morphogenetic Protein 7, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
