NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that appears to play a role in nuclear envelope integrity, possibly related to microtubule attachments. Mutations in this gene cause congenital dyserythropoietic anemia type I, a disease resulting in morphological and functional abnormalities of erythropoiesis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2009]

Uniprot Description

CDAN1: Might be involved in nuclear membrane integrity. Defects in CDAN1 are the cause of congenital dyserythropoietic anemia type 1 (CDA1). An autosomal recessive blood disorder characterized by morphological abnormalities of erythroblasts, ineffective erythropoiesis, macrocytic anemia and secondary hemochromatosis. It is occasionally associated with bone abnormalities, especially of the hands and feet (acrodysostosis), nail hypoplasia, and scoliosis. Ultrastructural features include internuclear chromatin bridges connecting some nearly completely separated erythroblasts and an abnormal appearance (spongy or Swiss-cheese appearance) of the heterochromatin in a high proportion of the erythroblasts. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Monkey CDAN1 cdan1 (Catalog #AAA7208523) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7208523 ELISA Kit recognizes Monkey CDAN1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Codanin-1 (CDAN1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
