Related Product Information for Atf3 recombinant protein
Activating transcription factor 3 is a member of the mammalian activation transcription factor
cAMP responsive element-binding (CREB) protein family of transcription factors. Multiple transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene. The longer isoform represses rather than activates transcription from promoters with ATF binding elements. The shorter isoform (deltaZip2) lacks the leucine zipper protein-dimerization motif and does not bind to DNA, and it stimulates transcription presumably by sequestering inhibitory co-factors away from the promoter. It is possible that alternative splicing of the ATF3 gene may be physiologically important in the regulation of target genes.

NCBI Description

expression is associated with neuronal injury [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

In solution, it binds the cAMP response element (CRE) (consensus: 5'-GTGACGT[AC][AG]-3'), a sequence present in many viral and cellular promoters but also has affinity for related sites. May have a unique and critical role in growth regulation of regenerating liver and mitogen-stimulated cells.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-3 (Atf3), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
