NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the aldo/keto reductase superfamily, which consists of more than 40 known enzymes and proteins. These enzymes catalyze the conversion of aldehydes and ketones to their corresponding alcohols by utilizing NADH and/or NADPH as cofactors. The enzymes display overlapping but distinct substrate specificity. This enzyme catalyzes the reaction of progesterone to the inactive form 20-alpha-hydroxy-progesterone. This gene shares high sequence identity with three other gene members and is clustered with those three genes at chromosome 10p15-p14. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
AKR1C1: Converts progesterone to its inactive form, 20-alpha- dihydroxyprogesterone (20-alpha-OHP). In the liver and intestine, may have a role in the transport of bile. May have a role in monitoring the intrahepatic bile acid concentration. Has a low bile-binding ability. May play a role in myelin formation. Belongs to the aldo/keto reductase family.

The AKR1C1 akr1c1 (Catalog #AAA7127825) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AKR1C1 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's AKR1C1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). ELISA: 1:2000-1:5000 IHC: 1:25-1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AKR1C1 akr1c1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "AKR1C1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
