Related Product Information for MDC active protein
MDC is a CC chemokine that is produced in B cells, macrophages, monocyte-derived dendritic cells, activated NK cells and CD4 T cells. It signals through the CCR4 receptor. MDC chemoattracts monocytes, dendritic cells and NK cells and exerts HIV suppressive activity. The 67 amino acid form of MDC displays reduced chemoattractant activity but retains HIV suppressive activity. Recombinant human MDC is an 8.0 kDa protein containing 67 amino acid residues including the four highly conserved cysteine residues present in the CC chemokines.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease) protein family. Members of this family are membrane-anchored proteins structurally related to snake venom disintegrins, and have been implicated in a variety of biological processes involving cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, including fertilization, muscle development, and neurogenesis. This gene represents a candidate tumor supressor gene for human breast cancer based on its location within a minimal region of chromosome 17q21 previously defined by tumor deletion mapping. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Probable ligand for integrin in the brain. This is a non catalytic metalloprotease-like protein.

Subunit structure: Can bind to LGI1 and LGI4

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.

Tissue specificity: Expressed predominantly in brain. Slightly detected or not at all in other tissues.

Domain: A conserved motif [AVN[ED]CD] within the disintegrin-like domain could be involved in the binding to the integrin receptor.

Post-translational modification: The precursor is cleaved by a furin endopeptidase

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 disintegrin domain.Contains 1 EGF-like domain.Contains 1 peptidase M12B domain.

Product Notes

The MDC adam11 (Catalog #AAA691472) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human MDC (67 aa) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: YGANMEDSVC CRDYVRYRLP LRVVKHFYWT SDSCPRPGVV LLTFRD KEIC ADPRVPWVKM ILNKLSQ. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MDC (67 aa), Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
