20.4
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degree C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Related Product Information for CTRC, inhibitor
Chymotrypsin preferentially catalyzes the hydrolysis of peptide bonds involving L-isomers of tyrosine, phenylalanine and tryptophan. It also readily acts upon amides and esters of susceptible amino acids. Chymotrypsin catalyzes the hydrolysis of bonds of leucyl, methionyl, asparaginyl and glutamyl residues. Chymotrypsinogen A is extracted from pancreatic tissue as a zymogen. Pancreatic extract contains approximately equal amounts of two forms of the zymogen, chymotrypsin A and chymotrypsin B. Chymotrypsin A may be activated to alpha, pi, beta, or gamma chymotrypsin. The enzyme is inhibited by heavy metals, the natural trypsin inhibitors to various degrees, an inhibitor from potato, and organophosphorous compounds.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the peptidase S1 family. The encoded protein is a serum calcium-decreasing factor that has chymotrypsin-like protease activity. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed, but their full-length nature has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Regulates activation and degradation of trypsinogens and procarboxypeptidases by targeting specific cleavage sites within their zymogen precursors. Has chymotrypsin-type protease activity and hypocalcemic activity. Ref.8

Catalytic activity: Preferential cleavage: Leu-|-Xaa, Tyr-|-Xaa, Phe-|-Xaa, Met-|-Xaa, Trp-|-Xaa, Gln-|-Xaa, Asn-|-Xaa.

Tissue specificity: Pancreas.

Involvement in disease: Genetic variations in CTRC can predispose to chronic pancreatitis by diminishing its protective trypsin-degrading activity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the peptidase S1 family. Elastase subfamily.Contains 1 peptidase S1 domain.

Product Notes

The CTRC ctrc (Catalog #AAA655348) is an Inhibitor produced from Human pancreatic tissue and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Suitable for antigenic applications in immunological protocols. Shows no trypsin activity when assayed against N-benzyl-L-arginine-p-nitroanilide. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CTRC ctrc for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Chymotrypsin Pancreas, Inhibitor" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
