Related Product Information for anti-CTSV antibody
Cathepsin V, also known as Cathepsin L2 and Cathepsin U, is a cysteine protease of the papain family. It is expressed as a proenzyme in lysosomes, which can be autocatalytically converted to the mature form at pH 4.0. Cathepsin V is specifically expressed in the thymus, testis, and corneal epithelium.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene, a member of the peptidase C1 family, is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase that may play an important role in corneal physiology. This gene is expressed in colorectal and breast carcinomas but not in normal colon, mammary gland, or peritumoral tissues, suggesting a possible role for this gene in tumor processes. Alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2011]

Uniprot Description

Function: Cysteine protease. May have an important role in corneal physiology. Ref.2 Ref.3

Catalytic activity: The recombinant enzyme hydrolyzes proteins (serum albumin, collagen) and synthetic substrates (Z-Phe-Arg-NHMec > Z-Leu-Arg-NHMec > Z-Val-Arg-NHMec). Ref.3

Subcellular location: Lysosome

Potential.

Tissue specificity: Predominantly expressed in the thymus and testis. Also expressed in corneal epithelium, and to a lesser extent in conjunctival epithelium and skin. Ref.1 Ref.2 Ref.3

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the peptidase C1 family.

Product Notes

The CTSV ctsv (Catalog #AAA649451) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CTSL2, ID (Cathepsin V, Cathepsin L2, Cathepsin U, Cathepsin V, CATL2, CTSU, CTSV, UNQ268/PRO305) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CTSL2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: ELISA: 1:20,000 Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CTSV ctsv for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CTSL2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
