NCBI Description

This gene encodes a zinc-dependent aminopeptidase that cleaves vasopressin, oxytocin, lys-bradykinin, met-enkephalin, dynorphin A and other peptide hormones. The protein can be secreted in maternal serum, reside in intracellular vesicles with the insulin-responsive glucose transporter GLUT4, or form a type II integral membrane glycoprotein. The protein catalyzes the final step in the conversion of angiotensinogen to angiotensin IV (AT4) and is also a receptor for AT4. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

IRAP: a leucyl/cystinyl aminopeptidase. A type II membrane protein and secreted. Resides in intracellular vesicles together with GLUT4 and can then translocate to the cell surface in response to insulin and/or oxytocin. Degrades peptide hormones such as oxytocin, vasopressin and angiotensin III, and plays a role in maintaining homeostasis during pregnancy. May be involved in the inactivation of neuronal peptides in the brain. Cleaves Met-enkephalin and dynorphin. Binds angiotensin IV and may be the angiotensin IV receptor in the brain. Three alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The LNPEP lnpep (Catalog #AAA6316634) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The LNPEP, NT (LNPEP, OTASE, Leucyl-cystinyl aminopeptidase, Insulin-regulated membrane aminopeptidase, Insulin-responsive aminopeptidase, Oxytocinase, Placental leucine aminopeptidase, Leucyl-cystinyl aminopeptidase, pregnancy serum form) (MaxLight 750) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's LNPEP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Western Blot (WB), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), FLISA. Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LNPEP lnpep for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LNPEP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
