NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a vesicular glutamate transporter. The encoded protein transports the neurotransmitter glutamate into synaptic vesicles before it is released into the synaptic cleft. Mutations in this gene are the cause of autosomal-dominant nonsyndromic type 25 deafness. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
Uniprot Description
SLC17A8: Mediates the uptake of glutamate into synaptic vesicles at presynaptic nerve terminals of excitatory neural cells. May also mediate the transport of inorganic phosphate. Defects in SLC17A8 are the cause of deafness autosomal dominant type 25 (DFNA25). DFNA25 is a form of sensorineural hearing loss. The expression of DFNA25 deafness is variable in terms of onset and rate of progression, with an age- dependent penetrance resembling an early-onset presbycusis, or senile deafness, a progressive bilateral loss of hearing that occurs in the aged. Belongs to the major facilitator superfamily. Sodium/anion cotransporter family. VGLUT subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The SLC17A8 slc17a8 (Catalog #AAA630740) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The VGLUT3 (Vesicular Glutamate Transporter 3, Solute Carrier Family 17 Member 8, SLC17A8) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VGLUT3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Dilution: Western Blot: 1-10ug/ml (Chemiluminescence) ELISA: 1:100,000; 50-100ng of G4007-02A control peptide/well. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLC17A8 slc17a8 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VGLUT3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
