Related Product Information for anti-FABP5 antibody
Human fatty acid binding protein EFABP is a 15kD member of the intracellular fatty acid binding protein (FABP) family, which is known for the ability to bind fatty acids and related compounds (bile acids or retinoids). in an internal cavity. The fatty acid binding proteins aP2 (fatty acid binding protein [FABP]-4) and mal1 (EFABP) are closely related and both are expressed in adipocytes. Absence of EFABP/mal1 resulted in increased systemic insulin sensitivity in two models of obesity and insulin resistance. Adipocytes isolated from mal1-deficient mice also exhibited enhanced insulin-stimulated glucose transport capacity. In contrast, mice expressing high levels of mal1 in adipose tissue display reduced systemic insulin sensitivity.

Uniprot Description

Function: High specificity for fatty acids. Highest affinity for the unsaturated fatty acid palmitate (C16:0). May be involved in the uptake and transport of fatty acids essential for the nourishment of the surrounding cell types. It is a potential target for oxidative stress during cataract formation in lens.

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm.

Tissue specificity: Most abundant in lens and retina (found in the mueller cells), moderately abundant in heart and testis (found in the Sertoli cells), and present in very low amounts in lung.

Domain: Forms a beta-barrel structure that accommodates hydrophobic ligands in its interior

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family.

Product Notes

The FABP5 fabp5 (Catalog #AAA619811) is an Antibody produced from Sheep and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Epidermal Fatty Acid Binding Protein (EFABP, FABP5) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Epidermal Fatty Acid Binding Protein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FABP5 fabp5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Epidermal Fatty Acid Binding Protein, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
