Related Product Information for anti-H-FABP antibody
H-FABP is also known as heart type fatty-acid binding protein, and FABP3. H-FABP belongs to the FABP family, and is a 14kD cytosolic non-enzymatic protein involved in the uptake, transport and metabolism of fatty acids. H-FABP also has a role in cell proliferation and is a candidate tumor suppressor gene in breast cancer. H-FABP was initially purified from the heart muscle, but has since been found to have a widespread tissue distribution, with highest concentration in cardiac and skeletal muscle. H-FABP has been implicated in neurodegenerative disorders, including Down syndrome and Alzheimer's disease, and is a specific and sensitive biomarker for acute myocardial infarctions.

NCBI Description

The intracellular fatty acid-binding proteins (FABPs) belongs to a multigene family. FABPs are divided into at least three distinct types, namely the hepatic-, intestinal- and cardiac-type. They form 14-15 kDa proteins and are thought to participate in the uptake, intracellular metabolism and/or transport of long-chain fatty acids. They may also be responsible in the modulation of cell growth and proliferation. Fatty acid-binding protein 3 gene contains four exons and its function is to arrest growth of mammary epithelial cells. This gene is a candidate tumor suppressor gene for human breast cancer. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

FABP3: FABP are thought to play a role in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids and their acyl-CoA esters. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family.

Product Notes

The H-FABP fabp3 (Catalog #AAA6129248) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Fatty Acid Binding Protein, Heart (Heart-type Fatty Acid-binding Protein, H-FABP, Fatty Acid Binding Protein 3, FABP3, FABP11, Mammary-derived Growth Inhibitor, MDGI, Muscle Fatty Acid Binding Protein, M-FABP, O-FABP) (PE) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Fatty Acid Binding Protein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the H-FABP fabp3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fatty Acid Binding Protein, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
