NCBI Description

CHTF18, CHTF8 (MIM 613202), and DCC1 (DSCC1; MIM 613203) are components of an alternative replication factor C (RFC) (see MIM 600404) complex that loads PCNA (MIM 176740) onto DNA during S phase of the cell cycle (Merkle et al., 2003 [PubMed 12766176]; Bermudez et al., 2003 [PubMed 12930902]).[supplied by OMIM]

Uniprot Description

CTF18: Chromosome cohesion factor involved in sister chromatid cohesion and fidelity of chromosome transmission. Component of one of the cell nuclear antigen loader complexes, CTF18-replication factor C (CTF18-RFC), which consists of CTF18, CTF8, DCC1, RFC2, RFC3, RFC4 and RFC5. The CTF18-RFC complex binds to single- stranded and primed DNAs and has weak ATPase activity that is stimulated by the presence of primed DNA, replication protein A (RPA) and by proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). The CTF18- RFC complex catalyzes the ATP-dependent loading of PCNA onto primed and gapped DNA. It also interacts with and stimulates DNA polymerase POLH. Belongs to the activator 1 small subunits family. CTF18 subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: DNA replication

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16p13.3

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; membrane; cytoplasm

Molecular Function: DNA binding; ATP binding

Biological Process: negative regulation of chromosome segregation; meiotic recombination; spermatogenesis; DNA replication; male meiosis

Product Notes

The CHTF18 chtf18 (Catalog #AAA601947) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CTF18, Chromosome Transmission Fidelity Factor 18 (CHTF18, CHL12, C16orf41, RUVBL) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CTF18, Chromosome Transmission Fidelity Factor 18 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP). Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Dilution: Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml or 1:500-1:1000 Immunoprecipitation: 1-2ug/mg of total cell protein (~10e7 cells). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CHTF18 chtf18 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CTF18, Chromosome Transmission Fidelity Factor 18, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
