Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Store at -20 degree C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Related Product Information for anti-Ephx2 antibody
A number of chemicals, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), have been shown to bind to DNA. This DNA damage can occur both early and late in the malignant process, thereby acting as an initiator and assisting in the progression of tumors. PAHs are released into the environment following incomplete combustion of organic materials. The most common sources of PAHs are from smoking and from consuming broiled or grilled foods. Human exposure to PAHs comes from various occupational, environmental, dietary and medicinal sources. Benzo[a]pyrene is a representitive PAH. Antibodies to benzo[a]pyrenediol-epoxide modified DNA (BPDE-DNA) can be used to identify polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH)-DNA adducts. Exposure to this group of compounds is believed to be carcinogenic.

NCBI Description

catalyzes the hydrolysis of an epoxide to a glycol; plays a role in regulation of blood pressure [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

EPHX2: Bifunctional enzyme. The C-terminal domain has epoxide hydrolase activity and acts on epoxides (alkene oxides, oxiranes) and arene oxides. Plays a role in xenobiotic metabolism by degrading potentially toxic epoxides. Also determines steady-state levels of physiological mediators. The N-terminal domain has lipid phosphatase activity, with the highest activity towards threo- 9,10-phosphonooxy-hydroxy-octadecanoic acid, followed by erythro- 9,10-phosphonooxy-hydroxy-octadecanoic acid, 12-phosphonooxy- octadec-9Z-enoic acid, 12-phosphonooxy-octadec-9E-enoic acid, and p-nitrophenyl phospate. Belongs to the AB hydrolase superfamily. Epoxide hydrolase family.

Protein type: Phosphatase (non-protein); Hydrolase; Cell adhesion; Lipid Metabolism - arachidonic acid; EC 3.1.3.76; EC 3.3.2.10

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; peroxisome; cytosol

Molecular Function: toxin binding; protein homodimerization activity; lipid-phosphate phosphatase activity; epoxide hydrolase activity; phosphoric monoester hydrolase activity; magnesium ion binding; lipid phosphatase activity; receptor binding

Biological Process: prostaglandin production during acute inflammatory response; cholesterol homeostasis; dephosphorylation; response to toxin; linoleic acid metabolic process; stilbene catabolic process; sensory perception of pain; inflammatory response; aromatic compound catabolic process; positive regulation of blood pressure; phospholipid dephosphorylation

Product Notes

The Ephx2 ephx2 (Catalog #AAA601642) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Benzo[a]pyrenediol Epoxide can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA). Can be used for immunopurification and for ELISA. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Ephx2 ephx2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Benzo[a]pyrenediol Epoxide, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
