NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
Function: Plays an essential role in the viral lytic DNA replication by acting as the polymerase accessory subunit. Stimulates the viral DNA polymerase activity and appears to function with it as a holoenzyme. Increases the processivity of the viral polymerase, probably by acting as a sliding clamp that prevents dissociation of the polymerase from the active template. In addition, BMRF1 transcriptionally activates the early BHLF1 promoter. Ref.4 Ref.9
Subunit structure: Homooligomerizes and adopts an oligomeric ring-shaped structure composed of 6 subunits. Forms a complex with the DNA-binding protein BALF2, the DNA polymerase subunit BALF5, and the alkaline exonuclease BGLF5. Interacts with BZLF1; this interaction may inhibit BZLF1-induced transcription of the BMRF1 promoter. Ref.4 Ref.5 Ref.6
Subcellular location: Virion tegument. Host nucleus. Note: BMRF1 shows homogeneous, not dot-like, distribution in the replication compartments, which coincides with the newly synthesized viral DNA. Ref.7 Ref.8
Post-translational modification: Phosphorylated by the viral BGLF4 kinase. Ref.10
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the herpesviridae DNA polymerase accessory subunit family.

Product Notes
The EBV EA ea-d (Catalog #AAA553147) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Epstein-Barr Virus Early Antigen can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). Recombinant EBV EA contains an N terminal GST purification tag and migrates as an approximatley 36 kDa protein under non-reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the EBV EA ea-d for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Epstein-Barr Virus Early Antigen, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
