NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
Alpha-synuclein is a member of the synuclein family, which also includes beta- and gamma-synuclein. Synucleins are abundantly expressed in the brain and alpha- and beta-synuclein inhibit phospholipase D2 selectively. SNCA may serve to integrate presynaptic signaling and membrane trafficking. Defects in SNCA have been implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson disease. SNCA peptides are a major component of amyloid plaques in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Four alternatively spliced transcripts encoding two different isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2009]

Product Notes
The SNCA snca (Catalog #AAA551154) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit anti alpha Synuclein polyclonal reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's alpha Synuclein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), IHC (Immunohistochemistry), ELISA (EIA). ELISA: Use at a concentration range of 1-2ug/ml. Western blot:A suitable range of concentrations of this antibody for WB detection is 2-10 ug/ml. IHC: A suitable range of concentrations of this antibody for IHC is 2-10 ug/ml. Immunohistochemical analysis of FFPE rat brain sections showing expression of alpha Synuclein. It was used as primary antibody, dilution 1:500, DAB staining. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SNCA snca for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "alpha Synuclein, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
