Biological Significance
Dengue virus (DENV) in one of four serotypes is the cause of dengue fever. It is a mosquito-borne single positive-stranded RNA virus of the family Flaviviridae; genus Flavivirus. All four serotypes can cause the full spectrum of disease. The primary life cycle of the dengue virus involves humans and mosquitoes. There is also another cycle in Africa. which involves non human primates.

Inactivated by room temperature incubation with formaldehyde. The formaldehyde is neutralized with the addition of sodium bisulphite. Generally accepted good laboratory practices appropriate to biological reagents should be employed when handling this product.
