Fibroblast Growth Factor-8 is also known as Androgen- induced Growth Factor, a heparin binding growth factor, which stimulates the proliferation and activation of cells that express the FGF receptors.
Bioactivity
The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by BaF3 cells expressing FGF receptors is < 0.05 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 2 x 10^6 units/mg
