Related Product Information for anti-SPP1 antibody
Osteopontin (OPN or Early T-Lymphocyte Activation-1: Eta-1), also referred to as transformation-associated secreted phosphoprotein, bone sialoprotein I, and minopotin, is a highly phosphorylated and glycosylated phosphoprtein that is expressed in many tissues. It is acidic, calcium-binding, cell surface-binding sequences (RGD)-containing protein was originally isolated from bone matrix. Osteopontin has been found in kidney, placenta, blood vessels. It is over-expressed in a variety of cancers, including lung, breast, colorectal, stomach, ovarian, melanoma and mesothelioma.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is involved in the attachment of osteoclasts to the mineralized bone matrix. The encoded protein is secreted and binds hydroxyapatite with high affinity. The osteoclast vitronectin receptor is found in the cell membrane and may be involved in the binding to this protein. This protein is also a cytokine that upregulates expression of interferon-gamma and interleukin-12. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]

Uniprot Description

osteopontin: Binds tightly to hydroxyapatite. Appears to form an integral part of the mineralized matrix. Probably important to cell-matrix interaction. Belongs to the osteopontin family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q22.1

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum lumen; extracellular region; extracellular space; Golgi apparatus

Molecular Function: extracellular matrix binding; protein binding

Biological Process: androgen catabolic process; cell adhesion; cellular protein metabolic process; decidualization; embryo implantation; extracellular matrix disassembly; extracellular matrix organization and biogenesis; osteoblast differentiation; positive regulation of bone resorption; positive regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; post-translational protein modification; response to vitamin D

Product Notes

The SPP1 spp1 (Catalog #AAA460337) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit anti Osteopontin (SPP1) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Rat, Mouse, Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Osteopontin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). ELISA: 0.01-0.1 ug/ml Flow Cytometry: 5-10 ug/ml Immunohistochemistry: 2-10 ug/ml Immunoprecipitation: 2-5 ug/ml Western Blot: 0.1-1 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SPP1 spp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Osteopontin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
