Goat Proenkephalin Polyclonal Antibody | anti-PENK antibody
Goat anti-Proenkephalin (mouse) Antibody
Expected from sequence similarity: Mouse, Rat
Expected from sequence similarity: Mouse, Rat
Immunohistochemistry: Frozen section of Rat Brain (Striatum) shows staining of dense enkephalinergic axon plexus. Frozen section of the Mouse Brain (Stria terminalis) shows staining of a dense enkephalinergic fibre network in the bed nucleus. Recommended concentration, 0.02-0.05ug/ml.
Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx 40kDa band in Rat Brain lysates after 0.2ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 30.8kDa according to Mouse NP_001002927.1 and 30.9kDa according to Rat NP_058835.1. The 40kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.
Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
((0. 02ug/ml) staining of PFA-perfused cryosection of Rat Striatum. HRP-staining with Ni-DAB after Biotin-SP-anti-goat amplification. Data obtained by Prof. Erik Hrabovszky, Inst, Exp, Med. , Budapest, Hungary.)

NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
PENK: Met- and Leu-enkephalins compete with and mimic the effects of opiate drugs. They play a role in a number of physiologic functions, including pain perception and responses to stress. PENK(114-133) and PENK(237-258) increase glutamate release in the striatum. PENK(114-133) decreases GABA concentration in the striatum. Belongs to the opioid neuropeptide precursor family.
Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide; Hormone

Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PENK penk for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: YKDSSKQDES H. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Proenkephalin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
