Applicable Applications for anti-ADRA2A antibody
Peptide ELISA (EIA), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF)
Application Notes
Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 32000.
Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave a band at approx 37kDa and a minor band at approx 23kDa in Human Brain lysates after 1ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the bands we observe given the calculated size of 49. 0kDa according to NP_000672.2. Both detected bands were successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide (and BLAST results with the immunizing peptide sequence did not identify any other proteins to explain the additional bands).
Immunofluorescence: This product has been successfully used in IF on Mouse primary DRG cultured neurons.
Immunogen
Peptide with sequence C-TERRPNGLGPERS, from the internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_000672.2.
Epitope
Internal region
Preparation and Storage
Aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Minimize freezing and thawing.

NCBI Description

Alpha-2-adrenergic receptors are members of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily. They include 3 highly homologous subtypes: alpha2A, alpha2B, and alpha2C. These receptors have a critical role in regulating neurotransmitter release from sympathetic nerves and from adrenergic neurons in the central nervous system. Studies in mouse revealed that both the alpha2A and alpha2C subtypes were required for normal presynaptic control of transmitter release from sympathetic nerves in the heart and from central noradrenergic neurons; the alpha2A subtype inhibited transmitter release at high stimulation frequencies, whereas the alpha2C subtype modulated neurotransmission at lower levels of nerve activity. This gene encodes alpha2A subtype and it contains no introns in either its coding or untranslated sequences. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

ADRA2A: Alpha-2 adrenergic receptors mediate the catecholamine- induced inhibition of adenylate cyclase through the action of G proteins. The rank order of potency for agonists of this receptor is oxymetazoline > clonidine > epinephrine > norepinephrine > phenylephrine > dopamine > p-synephrine > p-tyramine > serotonin = p-octopamine. For antagonists, the rank order is yohimbine > phentolamine = mianserine > chlorpromazine = spiperone = prazosin > propanolol > alprenolol = pindolol. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. Adrenergic receptor subfamily. ADRA2A sub-subfamily.

Product Notes

The ADRA2A adra2a (Catalog #AAA420023) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-ADRA2A Antibody reacts with Tested: Mouse; Expected from sequence similarity: Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ADRA2A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ADRA2A adra2a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: TERRPNGLGP ERS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ADRA2A, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
