Transcription Factor AREB6 / transcription factor 8 /zinc finger homeodomain enhancer-binding protein inhibits interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene expression. May be responsible for transcriptional repression of the IL-2 gene. Enhances or represses the promoter activity of the ATP1A1 gene depending on the quantity of cDNA and on the cell type.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a zinc finger transcription factor. The encoded protein likely plays a role in transcriptional repression of interleukin 2. Mutations in this gene have been associated with posterior polymorphous corneal dystrophy-3 and late-onset Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

Uniprot Description

TCF8: Acts as a transcriptional repressor. Inhibits interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene expression. Enhances or represses the promoter activity of the ATP1A1 gene depending on the quantity of cDNA and on the cell type. Represses E-cadherin promoter and induces an epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) by recruiting SMARCA4/BRG1. Represses BCL6 transcription in the presence of the corepressor CTBP1. Positively regulates neuronal differentiation. Represses RCOR1 transcription activation during neurogenesis. Represses transcription by binding to the E box (5'-CANNTG-3'). Promotes tumorigenicity by repressing stemness-inhibiting microRNAs. Interacts (via N-terminus) with SMARCA4/BRG1. Colocalizes with SMARCA4/BRG1 in E-cadherin- negative cells from established lines, and stroma of normal colon as well as in de-differentiated epithelial cells at the invasion front of colorectal carcinomas. Expressed in heart and skeletal muscle, but not in liver, spleen, or pancreas. Belongs to the delta-EF1/ZFH-1 C2H2-type zinc-finger family.

Product Notes

The AREB6 zeb1 (Catalog #AAA416505) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-AREB6 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's AREB6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Recommended dilutions: Peptide ELISA: 1:80,000 WB: 1:100 - 1:200 Not yet tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AREB6 zeb1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "AREB6, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
