Related Product Information for anti-PDGFR antibody
Platelet-derived growth factor receptors exhibit tyrosine-protein kinase activity and have been implicated in the control of cell proliferation, survival and migration. PDGF receptors, PDGFR-alpha and PDGFR-beta, have 5 extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains and an intracellular tyrosine kinase domain. Upon binding a PDGF, the receptors form homo-and heterodimers. Dimerization of the receptors results in phosphorylation in the complex. More than 10 different SH2-domain-containing molecules have been shown to bind to different autophosphorylation sites in the PDGF-alpha and beta receptors. PDGF alpha receptors are expressed in oligodendrocyte progenitor cells and PDGF beta receptors are expressed on neurons.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a cell surface tyrosine kinase receptor for members of the platelet-derived growth factor family. These growth factors are mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The identity of the growth factor bound to a receptor monomer determines whether the functional receptor is a homodimer or a heterodimer, composed of both platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha and beta polypeptides. Studies suggest that this gene plays a role in organ development, wound healing, and tumor progression. Mutations in this gene have been associated with idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome, somatic and familial gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and a variety of other cancers. Uniprot Description

PDGFRA: a receptor tyrosine kinase of the PDGFR family that binds members of the platelet-derived growth factor family. The identity of the growth factor bound determines whether the functional receptor is a homodimer or a heterodimer, composed of both PDGFR-alpha and -beta. Ligand binding induces receptor dimerization and autophosphorylation. Particularly important for kidney development since mice heterozygous for the receptor exhibit defective kidney phenotypes. Chromosomal rearrangments activate PDGFRalpha by fusion to BCR, causing atypical chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), and to FIP1L1, causing idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome. Activating point mutations cause a minority of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). Promoter polymorphisms linked to neural tube defects including spina bifida, verified by mouse mutant model. Inhibitors: Gleevec, Sutent. OMIM: Two alternatively-spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The PDGFR pdgfra (Catalog #AAA3008132) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PDGFR-alpha Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PDGFR-alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PDGFR pdgfra for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PDGFR-alpha, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
