NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein which is phosphorylated by insulin receptor tyrosine kinase. Mutations in this gene are associated with type II diabetes and susceptibility to insulin resistance. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]

Uniprot Description

IRS1: an adaptor protein that is one of the major substrates of the insulin receptor kinase. Contains multiple tyrosine phosphorylation motifs that serve as docking sites for SH2-domain-containing proteins including phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase p85 subunit and GRB-2. Phosphorylated on ser/thr residues by kinases including JNK and IKK.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Adaptor/scaffold

Product Notes

The Rat IRS-1 irs1 (Catalog #AAA029127) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA029127 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat IRS-1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Insulin Receptor Substrate 1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
