Function
Serine/arginine-rich protein-specific kinasewhich specifically phosphorylates itssubstrates at serine residues located inregions rich in arginine/serine dipeptides, known as RS domains and is involved in thephosphorylation of SR splicing factors and theregulation of splicing. Promotes neuronalapoptosis by up-regulating cyclin-D1 (CCND1)expression. This is done by thephosphorylation of SRSF2, leading to thesuppression of p53/TP53 phosphorylationthereby relieving the repressive effect ofp53/TP53 on cyclin-D1 (CCND1) expression.Phosphorylates ACIN1, and redistributes itfrom the nuclear speckles to thenucleoplasm, resulting in cyclin A1 but notcyclin A2 up- regulation. Plays an essentialrole in spliceosomal B complex formation viathe phosphorylation of DDX23/PRP28. Canmediate hepatitis B virus (HBV) core proteinphosphorylation. Plays a negative role in theregulation of HBV replication through amechanism not involving the phosphorylationof the core protein but by reducing thepackaging efficiency of the pregenomic RNA(pgRNA) without affecting the formation ofthe viral core particles.
Cellular Location
Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Note=Shuttles betweenthe nucleus and the cytoplasm. KAT5/TIP60inhibits its nuclear translocation.Phosphorylation at Thr-492 by PKB/AKT1promotes nuclear translocation.
Tissue Location
Highly expressed in brain, moderatelyexpressed in heart and skeletal muscle and atlow levels in lung, liver, and kidney generally the g phosphate of ATP, onto anacceptor amino acid in a substrate protein. Bythis basic mechanism, protein kinases mediatemost of the signal transduction in eukaryoticcells, regulating cellular metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement and cell movement, apoptosis, and differentiation. With more than 500 gene products, the protein kinase family is one of thelargest families of proteins in eukaryotes. Thefamily has been classified in 8 major groups based on sequence comparison of their tyrosine(PTK) or serine/threonine (STK) kinase catalyticdomains. The STE group (homologs of yeastSterile 7, 11, 20 kinases) consists of 50 kinases related to the mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) cascade families (Ste7/MAP2K,Ste11/MAP3K, and Ste20/MAP4K). MAP kinasecascades, consisting of a MAPK and one or more upstream regulatory kinases (MAPKKs) have been best characterized in the yeast pheromone response pathway. Pheromones bind to Ste cell surface receptors and activate yeast MAPK pathway.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20 degree C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Product Notes

The SRPK2 srpk2 (Catalog #AAA288175) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 465-495. The SRPK2 Antibody (C-term) reacts with Human, mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SRPK2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, IHC (Immunohistochemistry), ELISA, WB (Western Blot). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SRPK2 srpk2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SRPK2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
