Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PIK3CD in samples. An antibody specific for PIK3CD has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPIK3CD present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for PIK3CD is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PIK3CD bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Phosphoinositide 3-kinases (PI3Ks) phosphorylate inositol lipids and are involved in the immune response. The protein encoded by this gene is a class I PI3K found primarily in leukocytes. Like other class I PI3Ks (p110-alpha p110-beta, and p110-gamma), the encoded protein binds p85 adapter proteins and GTP-bound RAS. However, unlike the other class I PI3Ks, this protein phosphorylates itself, not p85 protein.[provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]
