0.78-50ng/mL
Sensitivity
0.47ng/mL
Precision
Both intra-CV and inter-CV are < 10%.
Test Principle
This ELISA kit uses the Sandwich-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Human CEA. Samples (or Standards) and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) linked antibody specific for Human CEA are added to the micro ELISA plate wells. Human CEA in samples (or standards) combines with the coated antibody and HRP linked detection antibody specific to CEA. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed from the plate. The substrate solution is added to each well. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450+/-2nm. The concentration of Human CEA in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
Preparation and Storage
An unopened kit can be stored at 2-8? for 6 months. After test, the unused wells and reagents should be stored according to the table/manual.

NCBI Description

Members of the CEACAM subfamily, including CEACAM5, belong to the CEA gene family. For general information on the CEA gene family, see CEACAM1 (MIM 109770).[supplied by OMIM, Oct 2009]

Uniprot Description

CEACAM5: Cell surface glycoprotein that plays a role in cell adhesion and in intracellular signaling. Receptor for E.coli Dr adhesins. Homodimer. Binding of E.coli Dr adhesins leads to dissociation of the homodimer. Found in adenocarcinomas of endodermally derived digestive system epithelium and fetal colon. Belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. CEA family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Immunoglobulin superfamily; Membrane protein, GPI anchor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.1-q13.2

Cellular Component: basolateral plasma membrane; integral to plasma membrane

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein homodimerization activity

Biological Process: homotypic cell-cell adhesion; negative regulation of apoptosis

Product Notes

The Human CEA ceacam5 (Catalog #AAA2568098) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2568098 ELISA Kit recognizes Human CEA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
