Background: The cluster of differentiation (CD) system is commonly used as cell markers in immunophynotyping. Different kinds of cells in the immune system can be identified through the surface CD molecules which associating with the immune function of the cell. There are more than 320 CD unique clusters and subclusters have been identified. Some of the CD molecules serve as receptors or ligands important to the cell through initiating a signal cascade which then alter the behavior of the cell. Some CD proteins do not take part in cell signal process but have other functions such as cell adhesion. Cluster of differentiation 24, also known as signal transducer CD24 or heat stable antigen CD24 (HSA), is a mucin-type glycosylphosphatidylinositol-linked glycoprotein expressed on the surface of B-cells, differentiating neuroblasts and many tumors. It is involved in molecular adhesion and metastatic tumor spread and serve as a normal receptor for P-selectin. The CD24 / P-selectin pathway could be important in dissimenating of tumor cells by facilitating the interaction with platelet and endothelial cells. It has also been considered as a tumor marker. High rate of CD24 expressions have been found in epithelial ovarian cancer, breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, prostate cancer and pancreatic cancer.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the mouse CD24 (Q8BHC0) (Met1-Arg52) was expressed, fused with the Fc region of human IgG1 at the C-terminus.

Uniprot Description

XLKD1: Ligand-specific transporter trafficking between intracellular organelles (TGN) and the plasma membrane. Plays a role in autocrine regulation of cell growth mediated by growth regulators containing cell surface retention sequence binding (CRS). May act as an hyaluronan (HA) transporter, either mediating its uptake for catabolism within lymphatic endothelial cells themselves, or its transport into the lumen of afferent lymphatic vessels for subsequent re-uptake and degradation in lymph nodes.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7|7 E3

Cellular Component: plasma membrane

Molecular Function: hyaluronic acid binding; transmembrane receptor activity

Biological Process: glycosaminoglycan catabolic process

Product Notes

The CD24 / Ly-52 / CD24A lyve1 (Catalog #AAA2546826) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant mouse CD24 /Fc is a disulfide-linked homodimer. The reduced monomer comprises 267 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 29.7 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 48-52 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions due to glycosylation. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD24 / Ly-52 / CD24A lyve1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD24 / Ly-52 / CD24A, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
