NCBI Description

Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) is a complex multifunctional enzyme system. ACC is a biotin-containing enzyme which catalyzes the carboxylation of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA, the rate-limiting step in fatty acid synthesis. ACC-beta is thought to control fatty acid oxidation by means of the ability of malonyl-CoA to inhibit carnitine-palmitoyl-CoA transferase I, the rate-limiting step in fatty acid uptake and oxidation by mitochondria. ACC-beta may be involved in the regulation of fatty acid oxidation, rather than fatty acid biosynthesis. There is evidence for the presence of two ACC-beta isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

ACC2: a subunit of acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), a multifunctional enzyme system. Catalyzes the carboxylation of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA, the rate-limiting step in fatty acid synthesis. Activity is increased by oligomerization. Activated by citrate. Citrate and MID1IP1 promote oligomerization. Inhibited by malonyl-CoA. ACC1 is the predominant form expressed in liver, adipocyte and mammary gland. Phosphorylation by AMPK or PKA inhibits the enzymatic activity of ACC. ACC2 is the major isoform in skeletal muscle and heart. Phosphorylation regulates its activity. Two isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The ACACB acacb (Catalog #AAA248196) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat Polyclonal to Mouse ACACB / ACC2 reacts with Bat, Gibbon, Chimpanzee, Human, Monkey, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ACACB / ACC2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), ELISA (EIA). ELISA (1:16000), IHC-P (5 ug/ml) Usage: Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:16000. Western blot: Not yet tested - our routinely used western blotting protocol does not allow detection of proteins as large as the calculated size of 277kD according to NP_001084.3. Therefore we.. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ACACB acacb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ACACB / ACC2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
