NCBI Description

This gene likely encodes a mitochondrial membrane protein. The encoded protein may play a role in biogenesis of mitochondrial ATP synthase. Mutations in this gene have been associated with neonatal mitochondrial encephalocardiomyopathy due to ATP synthase deficiency. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2010]

Uniprot Description

TMEM70: Involved in biogenesis of mitochondrial ATP synthase. Defects in TMEM70 are a cause of mitochondrial complex V deficiency nuclear type 2 (MC5DN2). A mitochondrial disorder with heterogeneous clinical manifestations including dysmorphic features, psychomotor retardation, hypotonia, growth retardation, cardiomyopathy, enlarged liver, hypoplastic kidneys and elevated lactate levels in urine, plasma and cerebrospinal fluid. Belongs to the TMEM70 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Mitochondrial; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q21.11

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; mitochondrion; mitochondrial inner membrane

Biological Process: mitochondrial proton-transporting ATP synthase complex assembly

Disease: Mitochondrial Complex V (atp Synthase) Deficiency, Nuclear Type 2

Product Notes

The TMEM70 tmem70 (Catalog #AAA243337) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit Polyclonal to Human TMEM70 reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TMEM70 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). ELISA, IHC-P (5 ug/ml), WB (1 - 2 ug/ml) Usage: TMEM70 antibody can be used for detection of TMEM70 by Western blot at 1-2 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TMEM70 tmem70 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TMEM70, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
