Host
Sheep
Reactivity
Human (Expected from Sequence), Mouse (Expected from Sequence), Primate (Expected from Sequence), Rat
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG
Specificity
This item recognises calretinin, a 29kDa calcium binding protein found mostly in the central nervous system and retina. It is a cytoplasmic protein involved in the regulation of calcium concentration, which is important in the regulation of a large variety of neuronal functions, including neurotransmitter release, ionic channel permeability, enzyme activity, and gene transcription. Mice deficient in calretinin show impairment in motor coordination.

Calretinin has also been shown as a sensitive and specific marker for mast cells.

271
Applicable Applications for anti-CALB2 antibody
Immunohistology Frozen, Western Blot (WB)
Application Notes
Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 29kDa in rat cerebellum.
Immunohistology - Frozen: Maximum Dilution: 1/500
Western Blotting: Maximum Dilution: 1/1000
Perservative Stabilisers
0.09% Sodium Azide (NaN3)
Immunogen
Purified guinea pig calretinin
Buffer Solution
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to Calretinin were raised by repeated immunisations of sheep with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by Protein A chromatography.
Target Species
Guinea Pig
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 18 months from date of despatch.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an intracellular calcium-binding protein belonging to the troponin C superfamily. Members of this protein family have six EF-hand domains which bind calcium. This protein plays a role in diverse cellular functions, including message targeting and intracellular calcium buffering. It also functions as a modulator of neuronal excitability, and is a diagnostic marker for some human diseases, including Hirschsprung disease and some cancers. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]

Uniprot Description

CALB2: Calretinin is a calcium-binding protein which is abundant in auditory neurons. Belongs to the calbindin family.

Protein type: Calcium-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16q22.2

Product Notes

The CALB2 calb2 (Catalog #AAA223868) is an Antibody produced from Sheep and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SHEEP ANTI GUINEA PIG CALRETININ reacts with Human (Expected from Sequence), Mouse (Expected from Sequence), Primate (Expected from Sequence), Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CALRETININ can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistology Frozen, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 29kDa in rat cerebellum. Immunohistology - Frozen: Maximum Dilution: 1/500 Western Blotting: Maximum Dilution: 1/1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CALB2 calb2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CALRETININ, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
