ABCB5; ABCB5beta; EST422562; ABCB5alpha
Applications
ELISA, Western Blot
Synonyms
ABCB5; Polyclonal Antibody; GOAT ANTI HUMAN ABCB5; anti-ABCB5 antibody
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
Goat
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG
Specificity
This item specifically recognises human ABCB5 (ATP-binding cassette sub-family B member 5), a P-glycoprotein and member of the conserved ABC transporter family, which acts as an energy-dependent efflux transporter for rhodamine.
ABCB5 is primarily expressed by skin progenitor cells and shown to act as a regulator of cell fusion and determinant of membrane potential. Studies have revealed the expression of ABCB5 in human malignant melanoma tumours, and in particular its association with CD133+ stem cell phenotype-expressing cells.

Human
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 18 months from date of despatch.

NCBI Description

ABCB5 belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily of integral membrane proteins. These proteins participate in ATP-dependent transmembrane transport of structurally diverse molecules ranging from small ions, sugars, and peptides to more complex organic molecules (Chen et al., 2005 [PubMed 15760339]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

ABCB5: Plasma membrane transporter able to mediate efflux from cells of the rhodamine dye and of the therapeutic drug doxorubicin. Responsible for the resistance to doxorubicin of a subset of malignant melanomas. Belongs to the ABC transporter superfamily. ABCB family. Multidrug resistance exporter (TC 3.A.1.201) subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The ABCB5 abcb5 (Catalog #AAA223834) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's ABCB5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 80kDa in A431cell lysates ELISA: Maximum Dilution: 1/128000 Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 0.03; Maximum Dilution: 0.1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ABCB5 abcb5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ABCB5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
