Preparation and Storage
Storage:
Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Store at 2-8 degree C for one month.
Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months.

Stability Test:
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

plays a role in extracellular transport of androgens [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Function: Functions as an androgen transport protein, but may also be involved in receptor mediated processes. Each dimer binds one molecule of steroid. Specific for 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone, testosterone, and 17-beta-estradiol. Regulates the plasma metabolic clearance rate of steroid hormones by controlling their plasma concentration

By similarity.

Subunit structure: Homodimer.

Subcellular location: Secreted. Note: In testis, it is synthesized by the Sertoli cells, secreted into the lumen of the seminiferous tubule and transported to the epididymis.

Tissue specificity: Isoform 2 is only expressed in the liver.

Developmental stage: In the fetal liver, expressed from day 14 to day 17 after conception.

Miscellaneous: A putative trans-splicing which involves HDC and SHBG gene regions produces a fusion protein expressed in fetal liver.

Sequence similarities: Contains 2 laminin G-like domains.

Product Notes

The SHBG shbg (Catalog #AAA2010615) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E.coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Recombinant Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) reacts with Rattus norvegicus (Rat) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Positive Control; Immunogen; SDS-PAGE; Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SHBG shbg for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: LQPGLFFPP GTHAEFSLQD IPQPHTDPWT FSLELGFKLV DGAGRLLTLG TGTNSSWLTL HLQDQTVVLS SEAEPKLALP LAVGLPLQLK LDVFKVALSQ GPKMEVLSTS LLRLASLWRL WSHPQGHLSL GALPGEDS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
