Related Product Information for FXN elisa kit
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human Forkhead Box Protein P1 (also known as FOXP1) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human FOXP1 antibody. FOXP1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human FOXP1 Antibody is added and binds to FOXP1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated FOXP1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human FOXP1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

This nuclear gene encodes a mitochondrial protein which belongs to the FRATAXIN family. The protein functions in regulating mitochondrial iron transport and respiration. The expansion of intronic trinucleotide repeat GAA from 8-33 repeats to >90 repeats results in Friedreich ataxia. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]

Uniprot Description

Promotes the biosynthesis of heme and assembly and repair of iron-sulfur clusters by delivering Fe2+ to proteins involved in these pathways. May play a role in the protection against iron-catalyzed oxidative stress through its ability to catalyze the oxidation of Fe2+ to Fe3+; the oligomeric form but not the monomeric form has in vitro ferroxidase activity. May be able to store large amounts of iron in the form of a ferrihydrite mineral by oligomerization; however, the physiological relevance is unsure as reports are conflicting and the function has only been shown using heterologous overexpression systems. Modulates the RNA-binding activity of ACO1.

Product Notes

The Human FXN fxn (Catalog #AAA167525) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA167525 ELISA Kit recognizes Human FXN. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Frataxin (FXN), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
