NCBI Description

The product of this gene belongs to the family of purinoceptors for ATP. This receptor functions as a ligand-gated ion channel and is responsible for ATP-dependent lysis of macrophages through the formation of membrane pores permeable to large molecules. Activation of this nuclear receptor by ATP in the cytoplasm may be a mechanism by which cellular activity can be coupled to changes in gene expression. Multiple alternatively spliced variants have been identified, most of which fit nonsense-mediated decay (NMD) criteria. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]

Uniprot Description

P2X7: a receptor for ATP that acts as a ligand-gated ion channel. Responsible for ATP-dependent lysis by macrophages through the formation of membrane pores permeable to large molecules. Activation of this nuclear receptor by ATP in the cytoplasm may be a mechanism by which cellular activity can be coupled to changes in gene expression. Alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. Could function in both fast synaptic transmission and the ATP-mediated lysis of antigen-presenting cells. Phosphorylation results in its inactivation.

Product Notes

The P2RX7 p2rx7 (Catalog #AAA154007) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's P2RX7 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). P2RX7 peptide is used for blocking the activity of P2RX7 antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the P2RX7 p2rx7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "P2RX7, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
