NCBI Description

Protein kinase B (PKB) is a major downstream target of receptor tyrosine kinases that signal via phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. Upon cell stimulation, PKB is translocated to the plasma membrane, where it is phosphorylated in the C-terminal regulatory domain. The protein encoded by this gene negatively regulates PKB activity by inhibiting phosphorylation. Transcription of this gene is commonly downregulated in glioblastomas. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CTMP: According to PubMed:11598301, inhibits AKT1 phosphorylation and activity. According to PubMed:17615157, enhances AKT1 activity by favoring its phosphorylation and translocation to plasma membrane. Interacts with AKT1. Expressed predominantly in skeletal muscle, testis, uterus, brain and kidney. Down-regulated in glioblastoma or glioma compared to non-neoplastic brain due to promoter hypermethylation.

Protein type: EC 3.1.2.2

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21

Cellular Component: mitochondrion; mitochondrial inner membrane; plasma membrane; mitochondrial intermembrane space; cytosol

Molecular Function: palmitoyl-CoA hydrolase activity

Biological Process: epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathway; fibroblast growth factor receptor signaling pathway; phosphoinositide-mediated signaling; nerve growth factor receptor signaling pathway; insulin receptor signaling pathway; protein kinase B signaling cascade; innate immune response; fatty acid metabolic process

Product Notes

The THEM4 them4 (Catalog #AAA152012) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's THEM4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). THEM4 peptide is used for blocking the activity of THEM4 antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the THEM4 them4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "THEM4, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
