Related Product Information for anti-Slc39a13 antibody
ZIP13 Antibody: The zinc transporter ZIP13, also known as SLC39A13, is a member of a family of divalent ion transporters. Zinc is an essential ion for cells and plays significant roles in the growth, development, and differentiation. The zinc transporter family is divided into four subfamilies (I, II, LIV-1 and gufA). ZIP13 is a multipass membrane protein that belongs to the ZIP transporter subfamily LIV-1. Mutations in ZIP13 have recently been shown to cause a spondylocheiro dysplastic form of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (SCD-EDS), a generalized skeletal dysplasia involving mainly the spine with clinical abnormalities of the hands in addition to EDS-like features. Other experiments have shown that ZIP13 is required for proper connective tissue development and is involved in BMP/TGF- signaling pathways.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the LIV-1 subfamily of the ZIP transporter family. The encoded transmembrane protein functions as a zinc transporter. Mutations in this gene have been associated with the spondylocheiro dysplastic form of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

Uniprot Description

SLC39A13: Acts as a zinc-influx transporter. Defects in SLC39A13 are the cause of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome-like spondylocheirodysplasia (SCD-EDS). SCD- EDS is a 'spondylocheiro dysplastic form of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome'. The syndrome consists of a generalized skeletal dysplasia involving mainly the spine (spondylo) and striking clinical abnormalities of the hands (cheiro) in addition to the EDS-like features. Clinical features included postnatal growth retardation, moderate short stature, protuberant eyes with bluish sclerae, hands with finely wrinkled palms, atrophy of the thenar muscles, and tapering fingers. Patients have thin, hyperelastic skin and hypermobile small joints consistent with an Ehlers- Danlos-like phenotype. Radiologic features included mild to moderate platyspondyly, mild to moderate osteopenia of the spine, small ileum, flat proximal femoral epiphyses, short, wide femoral necks, and broad metaphyses (elbows, knees, wrists, and interphalangeal joints). Belongs to the ZIP transporter (TC 2.A.5) family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11p11.2

Product Notes

The Slc39a13 slc39a13 (Catalog #AAA150218) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ZIP13 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ZIP13 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). ZIP13 antibody can be used for detection of ZIP13 by Western blot at 1 mug/mL. Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry starting at 2.5 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Slc39a13 slc39a13 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ZIP13, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
