NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is highly similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc26, a component of cell cycle anaphase-promoting complex (APC). APC is composed of a group of highly conserved proteins and functions as a cell cycle-regulated ubiquitin-protein ligase. APC thus is responsible for the cell cycle regulated proteolysis of various proteins. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CDC26: Component of the anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), a cell cycle-regulated E3 ubiquitin ligase that controls progression through mitosis and the G1 phase of the cell cycle. The APC/C complex acts by mediating ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of target proteins: it mainly mediates the formation of 'Lys-11'-linked polyubiquitin chains and, to a lower extent, the formation of 'Lys-48'- and 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitin chains. May recruit the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes to the complex. Belongs to the CDC26 family.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9q32

Cellular Component: anaphase-promoting complex; cytosol; nucleoplasm

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: anaphase-promoting complex-dependent proteasomal ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process; negative regulation of ubiquitin-protein ligase activity during mitotic cell cycle; positive regulation of ubiquitin-protein ligase activity during mitotic cell cycle; proteasomal ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process; protein ubiquitination during ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process; regulation of ubiquitin-protein ligase activity during mitotic cell cycle

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CDC26, cDNA Clone" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
