Uniprot Description

Function: Catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of 6-phosphogluconate to ribulose 5-phosphate and CO2, with concomitant reduction of NADP to NADPH.

Catalytic activity: 6-phospho-D-gluconate + NADP+ = D-ribulose 5-phosphate + CO2 + NADPH.

Pathway: Carbohydrate degradation; pentose phosphate pathway; D-ribulose 5-phosphate from D-glucose 6-phosphate (oxidative stage): step 3/3.

Subunit structure: Homodimer. Ref.5 Ref.6

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase family.

Sequence caution: The sequence described in Ref.2 differs from that shown. Reason: Incorrect CNBR peptide order. Many sequencing errors.

Product Notes

The 6-PGDH pgd (Catalog #AAA682050) is an Enzyme and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Phosphogluconate Dehydrogenase (L. mesenteroides), Enzyme" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
