Preparation and Storage
Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Store at 2-8 degree C for one month. Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months.
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a secreted protein belonging to the neurotrophin family of structurally related molecules that play a crucial role in the control of neuronal numbers and of dendritic growth. The encoded preproprotein undergoes post-translational processing to generate non-covalently associated homodimeric functional protein. Mice deficient in the encoded protein exhibit a loss of sensory neurons in the nodose-petrosal and geniculate ganglia, have deficits in long-term memory and hippocampal long-lasting long-term potentiation. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]

Uniprot Description

NT-4/5: Target-derived survival factor for peripheral sensory sympathetic neurons. Defects in NTF4 may be associated with susceptibility to primary open angle glaucoma type 1O (GLC1O). A form of primary open angle glaucoma (POAG). POAG is characterized by a specific pattern of optic nerve and visual field defects. The angle of the anterior chamber of the eye is open, and usually the intraocular pressure is increased. The disease is asymptomatic until the late stages, by which time significant and irreversible optic nerve damage has already taken place. Belongs to the NGF-beta family.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7 B3|7 29.3 cM

Cellular Component: cytoplasmic vesicle; extracellular region

Molecular Function: growth factor activity; neurotrophin p75 receptor binding

Biological Process: adult locomotory behavior; cell-cell signaling; epidermis development; ganglion mother cell fate determination; long-term memory; mechanoreceptor differentiation; negative regulation of neuron apoptosis; neurite morphogenesis; regulation of neuron differentiation; sensory organ boundary specification; transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase signaling pathway

Product Notes

The OPG ntf4 (Catalog #AAA2086693) is a Protein produced from 293F cell and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Osteoprotegerin (OPG) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Positive Control, Immunogen, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OPG ntf4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Osteoprotegerin (OPG), Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
