NCBI Description

This gene encodes the enzyme responsible for pre-mRNA editing of the glutamate receptor subunit B by site-specific deamination of adenosines. Studies in rat found that this enzyme acted on its own pre-mRNA molecules to convert an AA dinucleotide to an AI dinucleotide which resulted in a new splice site. Alternative splicing of this gene results in several transcript variants, some of which have been characterized by the presence or absence of an ALU cassette insert and a short or long C-terminal region. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

RED1: Editing of the messenger RNAs for glutamate receptor (GluR) subunits by site-selective adenosine deamination. Edits both the GluR-B Q/R and R/G sites efficiently but converts the adenosine in hotspot1 much less efficiently. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The ADARB1 adarb1 (Catalog #AAA822775) is a Blocking Peptide produced from Synthetic and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ADAR2 Blocking Peptide reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Chicken, Zebrafish and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ADAR2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). Blocking Peptide to the diluted primary antibody in a molar ratio of 10:1 (peptide to antibody) and incubate the mixture at 4 degree C for overnight or at room temperature for 2 hours. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ADARB1 adarb1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ADAR2, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
