NCBI Description

delayed-rectifier K+ channel expressed in heart and brain [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Kv1.2: Mediates the voltage-dependent potassium ion permeability of excitable membranes. Assuming opened or closed conformations in response to the voltage difference across the membrane, the protein forms a potassium-selective channel through which potassium ions may pass in accordance with their electrochemical gradient. Belongs to the potassium channel family. A (Shaker) (TC 1.A.1.2) subfamily. Kv1.2/KCNA2 sub-subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Channel, potassium; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral

Cellular Component: presynaptic membrane; endoplasmic reticulum membrane; voltage-gated potassium channel complex; lamellipodium; integral to plasma membrane; axon; dendrite; integral to membrane; perikaryon; nerve terminal; cell junction; endosome

Molecular Function: protein binding; voltage-gated potassium channel activity; delayed rectifier potassium channel activity; outward rectifier potassium channel activity

Biological Process: optic nerve structural organization; generation of action potential; regulation of circadian sleep/wake cycle, non-REM sleep; sensory perception of pain; regulation of dopamine secretion; protein oligomerization; protein homooligomerization

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily A member 2 (Kcna2), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
