Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate ASXL2 in samples. An antibody specific for ASXL2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyASXL2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ASXL2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ASXL2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of a family of epigenetic regulators that bind various histone-modifying enzymes and are involved in the assembly of transcription factors at specific genomic loci. Naturally occurring mutations in this gene are associated with cancer in several tissue types (breast, bladder, pancreas, ovary, prostate, and blood). This gene plays an important role in neurodevelopment, cardiac function, adipogenesis, and osteoclastogenesis. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2017]

Uniprot Description

ASXL2: Putative Polycomb group (PcG) protein. PcG proteins act by forming multiprotein complexes, which are required to maintain the transcriptionally repressive state of homeotic genes throughout development. PcG proteins are not required to initiate repression, but to maintain it during later stages of development. They probably act via methylation of histones, rendering chromatin heritably changed in its expressibility. Involved in transcriptional regulation mediated by ligand-bound nuclear hormone receptors, such as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARG). Acts as coactivator for PPARG and enhances its adipocyte differentiation-inducing activity; the function seems to involve differential recruitment of acetylated and methylated histone H3. A chromosomal aberration involving ASXL2 is a cause of therapy-related myelodysplastic syndrome. Translocation t(2;8)(p23;p11.2) with KAT6A generates a KAT6A-ASXL2 fusion protein. Belongs to the Asx family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Human ASXL2 asxl2 (Catalog #AAA280208) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA280208 ELISA Kit recognizes Human ASXL2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Putative Polycomb group protein ASXL2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
