MAK blocking peptide

MAK Antibody (C-term) Blocking Peptide

Gene Names
MAK; RP62
Synonyms
MAK; MAK Antibody (C-term) Blocking Peptide; Serine/threonine-protein kinase MAK; Male germ cell-associated kinase; MAK blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the C-term region of human MAK. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
623
Cellular Location
Nucleus. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, microtubule organizing center, centrosome. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, spindle. Midbody. Cell projection, cilium, photoreceptor outer segment. Photoreceptor inner segment. Note: Localized in both the connecting cilia and the outer segment axonemes (By similarity). Localized uniformly in nuclei during interphase, to the mitotic spindle and centrosomes during metaphase and anaphase, and also to midbody at anaphase until telophase.
Tissue Location
Expressed in prostate cancer cell lines at generally higher levels than in normal prostate epithelial cell lines. Isoform 1 is expressed in kidney, testis, lung, trachea, and retina. Isoform 2 is retina-specific where it is expressed in rod and cone photoreceptors.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for MAK blocking peptide
Essential for the regulation of ciliary length and required for the long-term survival of photoreceptors (By similarity). Phosphorylates FZR1 in a cell cycle-dependent manner. Plays a role in the transcriptional coactivation of AR. Could play an important function in spermatogenesis. May play a role in chromosomal stability in prostate cancer cells.

NCBI Description

The product of this gene is a serine/threonine protein kinase related to kinases involved in cell cycle regulation. Studies of the mouse and rat homologs have localized the kinase to the chromosomes during meiosis in spermatogenesis, specifically to the synaptonemal complex that exists while homologous chromosomes are paired. Mutations in this gene have been associated with ciliary defects resulting in retinitis pigmentosa 62. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]

Uniprot Description

MAK: a protein kinase of the RCK family of kinases. It is expressed at high levels in the testis (primarily in germ cells), and in developing sensory epithelia. Localizes to the chromosomes during meiosis in spermatogenesis, specifically to the synaptonemal complex that exists while homologous chromosomes are paired.

Protein type: Protein kinase, CMGC; EC 2.7.11.22; Nuclear receptor co-regulator; Kinase, protein; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); CMGC group; RCK family

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6p24

Cellular Component: centrosome; midbody; nucleus; photoreceptor inner segment; photoreceptor outer segment

Molecular Function: protein binding; transcription coactivator activity

Biological Process: photoreceptor cell maintenance; protein amino acid autophosphorylation; protein amino acid phosphorylation

Disease: Retinitis Pigmentosa 62

Product Notes

The MAK mak (Catalog #AAA9226979) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MAK, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
